Heirloom Closet is a personal wardrobe and shopping app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is used.
Summary
- Your closet data stays on your device by default (photos, items, outfits, profile).
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Optional features (Gmail import, online product search, photo cleanup in the cloud, Muse) send only what is needed to those services.
- Shopping links may use affiliate tags so Heirloom Closet can earn a commission if you buy (at no extra cost to you).
Information We Collect
Stored on your iPhone (not on our servers)
- Clothing items you add (names, photos, categories, prices, retailer links)
- Outfits you create
- Profile info (display name, username, avatar, favorite retailers)
- App preferences and local suggestion feedback (“Not for me” on shop picks)
- Backups you export to Files or iCloud (you control where those files go)
Heirloom Closet does not operate a cloud database for your closet. If you delete the app without exporting a backup, that data is removed from your device.
Optional: Gmail import
If you connect Gmail, Heirloom Closet uses Google Sign-In to read order-related emails so you can import purchases. Gmail access is handled on your device through Google’s APIs — email content is not sent to our search servers. Heirloom Closet requests access only for this purpose and does not store your Gmail password. You can disconnect Gmail anytime in Profile.
Optional: Online product search
When you search for products or match photos online, Heirloom Closet sends search queries (and sometimes product images) to our search proxy (hosted on Supabase). The proxy forwards those requests to SerpAPI to query public shopping results, may cache responses to reduce duplicate lookups, and applies per-device rate limits. We do not store your closet contents on this server — only search-related data needed to fulfill the request. See Supabase’s privacy policy and SerpAPI’s privacy policy.
Optional: Photo cleanup in the cloud
If you use Invisible Mannequin, the garment photo is sent to our cloud function so it can return a catalog-style image. On-device Clean Up / Enhance stays on your iPhone.
Optional: Muse
Muse is optional. Browsing Closet, Studio, and Shop does not require an account. If you create a public profile (Sign in with Apple), Heirloom Closet stores your display name, username, avatar, and looks you choose to share, plus follows, likes, reports, and blocks needed to run the community. You can report or block from a look or profile. Closet contents are not uploaded unless you share a look.
Shopping and affiliate links
When you tap Shop or open a retailer link, you leave Heirloom Closet. Links may include an affiliate tag (e.g. Amazon). This does not change the price you pay.
How We Use Information
- Run core features (closet, studio, shop, fitting room)
- Run Muse when you choose to share a look or follow people
- Improve product suggestions on your device (e.g., hiding items you mark “Not for me”)
- Resolve product details from URLs you share or paste
- Import purchase info from email when you choose to
- Process shop searches through our proxy (rate limiting and caching only — not advertising)
We do not use your data for advertising profiles.

Permissions
Heirloom Closet may ask for Photos/Camera, Internet, and optionally Gmail. You can deny permissions; related features will be limited.
Children
Heirloom Closet is not directed at children under 13.
Data Retention & Deletion
- On device: Data remains until you delete items, use Delete Account in Profile, or remove the app.
- Search cache (server): Cached shop search responses expire automatically (typically within 72 hours).
- Export: Profile → Backup → Export
- Account deletion: Removes closet data, outfits, and profile from your device.
Security
Closet data is stored locally using Apple’s app sandbox. Shop searches are sent over HTTPS to our proxy; the SerpAPI key is stored only on the server, not in the app. Keep your device passcode enabled.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change.
